Scott Shipley, MSPE

Founder S2o Design

Scott brings a varied background to the table. Scott Shipley is among the best-known American kayakers in the world today. A veteran of three Olympic games (’92, ’96, ’00) and holder of four world titles, Shipley has more than 25 years experience as a whitewater competitor. Scott also holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from top-ranked Georgia Institute of Technology. Shipley’s combined expertise in both Whitewater and Engineering Design has made him the go-to designer for some of the world’s most demanding whitewater design projects.


Andy Laird, MEng, CEng, MICE, MCIWEM

Founder Epd

Andy is a Chartered Civil Engineer and a Chartered Environmental Engineer. He has experience of working with the Environment Agency, the water industry and large multidisciplinary delivery contractors. He has twenty years of paddlesport experience across the globe; competitively across a number of disciplines and coaching the next generation. Whitewater is an endless fascination, for which Andy has a special understanding as an engineer, able to model, predict and recreate features to match the best he has found on his travels.
